Behavioral interviews are challenging as there is no specific guidance available online or it is vague. Here are some resources to ace your behavioral interview!

How to prepare?

• Start a Google Doc or OneNote page with all relevant questions you want to be prepared and pick 2-3 questions every day, spend 20-30 minutes coming up with various responses, and document them as you think over them. It is great if you are able to find multiple examples. Try to put them into STAR format and ensure that the Result part conveys the impact. Go over them, and rehearse in front of a mirror (or with a friend/coach). Remember, practice makes this perfect!

Expectations from various behavioral interview questions

1. Tell me about a time you adapted to a big change at work. How did you adjust to your new environment?

   Adaptability and flexibility are both essential skills for leaders/managers. You often have to deal with changing staff, implementing strategic plans, planning projects, and responding to new challenges. This question provides an idea of your mindset when dealing with sudden changes in the workplace.

2. Describe a situation where you had to collaborate with someone with a different working style.

   Effective leaders/managers need to be able to work well with all kinds of personalities and working styles. This question allows you to share their strategies for promoting teamwork among employees who take opposing approaches to complete projects.

3. Give an example of a strategy you have used to motivate others.

   This gives the interviewer an idea of how you motivate others thus you would spread the positive company culture and teamwork!
